False positives can lead to unnecessary medical procedures and anxiety, while false negatives risk providing false reassurance, delaying critical, life-saving treatments.

Cancer detection saves lives
The sooner cancer is detected, the better the chances of survival—and the lower the costs.
The survival probability drops significantly when cancer is detected at late stages. At these stages, surgery becomes far less effective, radiotherapy is often necessary, and chemotherapeutic drugs are more toxic. Treatment and care costs also increase substantially for cancers discovered at later stages.
How we amplify impact
While historically the focus has purely been on detecting the cancer signal, we augment this by ensuring there is a cancer signal to detect in the first place — this represents the critical first step in any diagnostic test. Our patented sampling and pre-concentration approach has the potential to dramatically increase the adoption and accuracy of diagnostic testing, amplifying the impact of existing and novel biomarkers.

With both an MD and PhD, he led the hospital’s Oncology Department until 2021 and served as CEO through the end of 2024. His long-standing involvement with Qurin, initially as chair of the one-tier board and now in a more operational role, reflects his deep commitment to advancing non-invasive cancer diagnostics through urine-based screening technologies.

Gijs Lipsch is a seasoned investment management professional based in Amsterdam, Netherlands, with over 30 years of experience in the financial sector. He holds leadership and partner roles at several organizations, including Wealth Management Partners NV (WMP), where he serves as an Asset Manager and Partner, advising families, foundations, and associations on asset management with a focus on private equity. Lipsch has previously held senior positions at top institutions such as Merrill Lynch and IBS Capital Management, where he worked in investment management and advisory roles. He is also actively involved in several non-profit activities, serving as a board member (Bestuurslid) for organizations like Stichting Romo Foundation and Stichting Bob Pinedo Cancer Care Award.
